for Ramadan?

Summer Ramadan Cooking is the 2nd edition of my book. It has all of the same easy-to-make and easy-to-read recipes from the first edition, this time with updates and the addition of a few more delicious summer recipes your family will love this Ramadan and throughout the year!

“It was so much fun to create and I really enjoyed showcasing healthy, home-cooked meals for both Suhoor and Iftar as well as desserts for Iftar gatherings and parties, and even for Eid. The book also has a short explanation of the food rituals of Ramadan and its overall meaning and importance in our lives as Muslims, one that has been revered and respected by many institutions.”

Summer Ramadan Cooking: Recipes & Resources for Healthy Meals All Month Long

It is a 129-page book full of an introduction to the Rituals of eating during Ramadan, how the Ramadan kitchen functions and an overview of cooking for the Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and the Iftar (meal to break the fast) during this special month. At least 100 recipes for healthy drinks, appetizers, soups, salads, main meals and desserts are included, as well as links to resources for halal meats, poultry, dairy, and even Ramadan entertaining décor and party suppliers.

How Do You Prepare For Ramadan?

Each year that the month of Ramadan falls in the Summer (the Islamic calendar is a lunar one), it poses a bit of a challenge to those fasting due to the long days and often intense heat in most places around the world at this time.

In Ramadan the focus is actually not on the food, however, having a sense of what to eat to help make the most out of non-fasting times by giving one’s body the appropriate nutrient-dense, hydrating and healthy meals is a surefire way to make the most out of one’s fasting experience, too.

I wrote the book on Summer Ramadan Cooking in 2011 and in doing so it’s given me great pleasure to know that many people have benefitted from the recipes they’ve found to be quick, delicious and easy to make for their families.

Here are some of my favorite recipes in the Cookbook:
