A Priceless Education About Where Food Comes From

These little sour plums (I believe they’re called Victoria Plum) are in season now in southern Turkey and I can’t stop eating them.

They remind me so much of my childhood plum tree in our backyard. Every year when the plums ripened, I was in awe and excitement that we could simply eat fruit off our tree. It was a priceless education that food grew from nature and it didn’t come from cans or boxes.

I feel blessed to have had that in my life experience and truly wish that for every child. Humankind needs to protect and preserve this miracle of nature.
