Last month I had the pleasure and honor of working with IFANCA (Islamic Food & Nutrition Council of America) to present a new series of Halal & Healthy Workshops (we’ve done this in the past), this time focusin on how our bodies and minds work to desire certain flavors, textures and qualities of food. In the workshop we talk about a lot of things related to how the food industry works to develop products that they know we’ll like and how we as consumers can make good and healthy choices at the grocery store that translate to healthy cooking that is simple and easy to do for the whole family.
Our most recent workshop took place at Masjid al-Farooq in Chicago. It’s a one hour workshop that we’re repeating throughout the city over the next several months. Here are a few highlights from the recent workshop and links to the recipes we demonstrated and sampled are at the end of this post.
