It’s amazing what doing a lot of things yourself in your house can do to your psyche. First of all, it makes you feel really accountable for caring for the things in your home that you worked very hard to purchase and that now you want to protect and keep looking nice. Though I haven’t posted it yet, we put in some really beautiful all-natural hardwood floors into our home and instantly felt the fear of scratches, nicks, gouges, liquid spill and everything else that could possibly ruin such a pretty and natural surface (especially after having unsightly floors beneath your feet for many, many months).
And I haven’t even talked about the walls- oh, the walls. The amount of time it takes to select a color, worry about how it will look on the wall, let alone find the time, resources and the manpower to actually get it up onto the wall. One more thing to want to protect and preserve for as long as responsible.
The way I look at it, it’s about being respectful to the process, the craftsmanship, the hard work it takes to put it all together. Why ruin it unnecessarily? That’s why I am putting these wonderful things on every chair, couch, table and desk leg that’s in my house.
Felt sliders, bars, tips, bumpers and pads can be stuck onto the bottom of every piece of furniture you have. The plastic bumpers are perfect for putting on chair or couch backs that might go up against the wall and nick it or put smudges or paint smears (i.e. from wooden chairs- it’s already happened here).
They’re so great for every single house, all floor surfaces and wall surfaces. I like the big package like this because it has so many different sizes and types, but you can also find most of these in single packets at just about any hardware store around.
What do you do to protect your walls and floors at home?
