City Hall Bake Shop: Home of “Cake Boss”

Many visitors to Manhattan miss out on the great opportunity to visit nearby Hoboken, NJ.  I have done the same on past trips to The Big Apple, but my most recent trip afforded me the great pleasure and impetus to try visiting the bustling bakery of Buddy Valastro (a.k.a. “Cake Boss”) and his family. … Read more

Simple Foccacia Bread

Ever since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, I’ve felt it quite frivolous to go about daily tasks such as recipe developing, recipe testing and writing about the intricate details and characteristics of food while an entire island nation of people suffer from lack of the most basic necessities: shelter, water food and medical attention. As … Read more

Italian Herb-Stuffed Mushrooms

My family has been making stuffed mushrooms since I can remember eating savory foods. They look tedious to make, but I promise you they are super simple. I only cut off the stem to use in the stuffing, not the core of the mushroom. I think it makes the recipe easier, less messy and I … Read more

Frittata al Tonno (Tuna Omelet)

What’s so ironic about writing about food and testing recipes all day is that I find myself looking for quicker meals to make than I ever have before. Baked Stuffed Peaches Topped with Mascarpone Cream

Traditionally made with cognac, I decided to try using white grape juice as a substitute ingredient in this baked fruit dessert. The result was nothing short of delectable. Even for those who avoid fruit as dessert, trust me. It’s worth a taste.

*Cooks tip: You’ll probably have plenty of leftover mascarpone cheese mixture from this recipe. Don’t let it go to waste– it is absolutely wonderful when dates, fresh figs or just about any other fruits are dipped into it…heavenly.

5-Minute Frittata

This is the quickest oven-baked frittata to prepare. Normally I would add flour and milk to a dish like this, but on the day it was made, I was in such a hurry there was no time to think about accurately measuring the two. It resulted in one of the fluffiest and most delicious frittatas … Read more
