Latvian Breakfast Buns

Latvian Breakfast Buns

Preparation time: approx. 1 hour

Yields 10 buns

Cook time: 15-25 minutes

Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 egg
1 cup of lookwarm water
2 teaspoons dry yeast
2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2-3 tablespoons oil
vanilla sugar
sesame and pop seeds

Method

Mix yeast and water.
Add the sugar, oil, salt, vanilla, baking powder and flour.
Knead dough and refrigerate for about an hour.
When dough is ready, form buns and leave it to rise for 10 minutes.
Grease buns with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
Put buns on baking paper.
Put tray with buns in preheated oven 350° degrees for about 15-25 minutes.
When buns are nicely brown, take them out and enjoy with coffee or tea.
